If your family has just moved to Dallas, or you’re considering moving to Dallas, you’re probably wondering what you can do as a family in the big city. Fear not – Dallas has a plethora of family friendly activities for every interest and age. Here are some ideas for your next family fun night.

Education

Dallas is one of the best cities to expand your knowledge. It wasn’t ranked for some of the best high schools for nothing. But the city has more educational opportunities to offer than just schools. There are plenty of museums that provide a fun, educational experience everyone will enjoy.

Budding scientists can explore the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, where they’ll learn about everything from microscopic cells to universal discoveries. Artists can be inspired by painting, pottery, sculpting and other skills at the Dallas Museum of Art. Contemporary and ancient, and local and foreign arts are featured regularly at the DMA.

Sports

Dallas is home to many notable sports teams you and the kids can enjoy watching together. Gather at the Cowboys Stadium in the fall to watch National Football League team the Dallas Cowboys duel against rival pro football teams. If basketball is what your family is into, get tickets for a Dallas Mavericks National Basketball Association game at the American Airlines Center.

Other sports teams to check out are the Major League Baseball team, the Texas Rangers, the National Hockey League team, the Dallas Stars and the Major League Soccer team, FC Dallas.

Entertainment

No description of family fun activities in Dallas would be complete without talking about the endless entertainment options found in the city. Parks, zoos and seasonal festivals make Dallas the perfect place for fun-seeking families to find something to do.

Moms and dads can go to Klyde Warren Park for boot camp or yoga while the kids enjoy playground activities, or visit Fair Park in early fall for the Texas State Fair. Young children – and adults – can visit the Gentle Zoo, a petting zoo where kids can feed farm animals and play with other kids on the playground or in the bounce house; exotic animals, like giraffes, lions and gorillas, can be found at the Dallas Zoo.

Considerations

Those thinking about moving to Dallas shouldn’t worry about finding affordable housing. There are a variety of family oriented neighborhoods and spacious Dallas apartments with room for the whole family. Apartments and housing can be found near schools, parks or wherever your family members spend most of their time.

Don’t feel limited to these suggestions – there are numerous activities and places you and the family can explore. The kids no longer have to decide between visiting the zoo or playing in the park. Now that you’re in Dallas, you can do what everyone in the family loves.
